LONDON – 20th April 2021 – Global Student Accommodation Group (GSA), the world leader in university student living, today announces that Uninest Student Residences (Uninest), its in-house and largest operator in the Republic of Ireland, has been chosen to manage the new Melbourn Point purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) property in Cork. Melbourn Point is currently being developed by Cork-based Citidwell Homes (Citidwell) and is expected to complete in September this year.

As Citidwell’s first PBSA project, Melbourn Point is located in the west of the city, adjacent to Munster Technological University (previously Cork Institute of Technology) and close to local amenities including bars, restaurants and grocery stores, along with good transport links to the city centre. The modern property will provide 342 beds, each with its own en-suite bathroom, through a range of shared apartments and self-contained studios. Melbourn Point’s state-of-the-art facilities include an onsite gym, study spaces, common room, cinema room and gaming booths, as well as cycle storage, laundry facilities and high-speed Wi-Fi.

Cork is one of the Republic of Ireland’s leading university cities, while Munster Technological University is home to 12,000 students and 1,425 staff. This transaction with Citidwell builds on Uninest’s presence in the city, where it already operates the Amnis House and Lee Point residences.

Christopher Holloway, Business Development Director of GSA said, “This is a very exciting time for GSA’s operating business as we continue to build on the recent momentum and position ourselves to become the third-party operator of choice in UK, Europe and the USA. We are confident of the continued growth of our operational strategy and expansion into new and existing markets.

“I’m delighted that we have secured another operating contract through our leading student brand Uninest. Cork is a location where GSA has significant operational experience and it’s fantastic that Citidwell has entrusted us with their first PBSA project - we look forward to a long partnership together”.

Richard Galvin, Director of Citidwell said, “Melbourn Point is a great addition to the local community, and we have no doubt it will attract students both domestically and internationally. We are very pleased to partner with Uninest and GSA, their reputation is unparalleled as leading provider in the country. The overall student experience, wellbeing support and communities they create is an important factor when choosing a preferred operator”.
